Joe the Plumber is a joke!

Is this man really representative of you, America?
- works in a licenced industry without a licence
- owes back taxes
- but is ready to buy a business with revenues of $250K, the buying price of which would be at least $1 mil.
- does not understand the difference between Revenue and Taxable Income?
- when pressed on issues close to his heart spouted off on Iraq. That matters more than the recession at home? Poor educational systems and lack of reform?

Wow! Is this you, America?

Pay your taxes first, Joe. They go towards building roads that lead to libraries and schools for our kids. You don't want to spread your wealth around? Then stop living off our wealth because we pay our taxes on time.

Bah.

But Joe has a license. And Joe's company, if he were going to buy it, would make him eligible for small business tax breaks, and he would still get his middle-class tax break. So he'd make out.

I don't ever believe anything out of McCain's mouth.

Well spoken, my dear. Taxes are good.

If that is socialist, I don't mind to be called that.

Leslie, Joe would totally just fine *if* he can manage to buy the company he is interested in. But there is so much spin on it and people understand so little about taxation - especially business taxes - that the discussion sounds almost ridiculous to those who do.

Joe's larger problem, however, will be getting business credit to buy his company and again, when he needs funds for his working capital needs. Credit for small businesses is drying up fast, if it hasn't already dried up. There is no money in the credit market despite this $700bn bailout.

Gabi, we pay very high taxes but this is the first country I have lived in where I seen my tax dollars at work.
